November is Sci-Fi/Fantasy Month

Why is November Sci-Fi/Fantasy month? Well to be honest it is simply because November is one of our librarians’ birth month and his favorite genre of books are Sci-Fi and Fantasy.

So we had him put together a display of his favorite Sci-Fi and Fantasy books. Whether you are new to the genres or a veteran, young or old, whether you like romance or action, whatever your tastes, you are certain to find something that appeals to you.

Featured Books include:

The Name of the Wind

Starship Troopers

The Eye of the World

Ender’s Game

The Black Company

Snow Crash

The Way of Kings

A Game of Thrones

Old Man’s War

…and many more

Southwest O.W.L.s Postpone Meeting

The November meeting of the Southwest Oklahoma Writers League will meet on the third Saturday, November 16th, instead of the second Saturday.

Judy Forehand will be sharing her experiences of writing and publishing her novel, The Ghosts on Cross Mountain.  Other authors have also been invited to tell of their new publications.

The meeting will convene in the basement of the Margaret Carder Library in Mangum, at 10:00 AM instead of the usual 10:30 time.

The public is invited.

Website’s New Look

You may have noticed that that our website looks a little different today. We have been hard at work these past weeks rebuilding our webpage from scratch. Our previous website had been a last minute recovery before we lost our hosting. However there was a fair amount of lost information and a general lack of maintenance for several month preceding the recovery, which had made the recovered site difficult to manage. It became apparent that it would be simpler to rebuild the entire site than to maintain it. While, we were at it we decided also updated the look and implemented some more modern web practices and features. We hope you enjoy the redesign and that it serves you better.
