Margaret Carder Library is currently closed to the public. We are still offering curbside pick up services though our online Catalog, and online services for eBooks and digital audio books.

Here at the Margaret Carder Library, many of our visitors are seniors or other at-risk individuals, therefore we will be taking a number of steps to reduce the risks to our visitors and staff members. We understand that some of these requirements may be seen as an inconvenience by some, but please keep in mind that they are for everyone’s health and safety. We will evaluate each of these steps on a bi-weekly basis and any changes will be posted here and our Facebook page, as well as on the library doors.

  • All visitors and staff will be required to wear a medical mask or cloth face covering at all times inside the library. Medical masks or cloth face coverings must cover both the nose and mouth. Any individuals without a proper medical mask or cloth face cover will be asked to leave the library.
  • All visitors and staff will be subjected to a fever screening with a forehead thermometer upon entry to the building. Individuals with a temperature greater than 100°F will be asked to leave the library and encouraged to visit their medical provider for a COVID-19 test. Furthermore, Any individuals who obviously display or express having other COVID-19 symptoms will likewise be asked to leave the library and encouraged to visit their medical provider for a COVID-19 test. These Symptoms include:
    • Fever or chills
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • Loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion or runny nose
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea
  •  Visitors may be required to use hand sanitizer upon entry, depending on availability.
  • There will be a limit of 5 visitors inside of the library at any given time. When the library has reached this capacity no new visitors will be permitted inside the building until another visitor leaves. New visitors may wait on the porch or in the parking lot, or return to the library at another time.
  • The computer area will be limited to 2 patrons at a time. Only two computers will be enabled for public use to maintain safe distances between users.
  • No visitor will be allowed to remain inside the library for more than 1 hour at a time. individuals may return for another hour after leaving library property for at least 2 hours. However, visitors who have not yet utilized the library that day will be given preference over returning visitors.
  • The first 2 hours after opening (10AM – 12AM) will be dedicated to seniors and individuals with medical conditions that place them at increased risk of complications due to infection. These conditions include:
    • Asthma
    • Chronic kidney disease
    • Chronic lung disease
    • Diabetes
    • Hemoglobin Disorders
    • Immunocompromised
    • Liver disease
    • Serious heart conditions
    • Severe obesity.
  • All returned library materials will be quarantined for a period of 7 days before being returned to circulation.
  • Library staff will be regularly disinfecting surfaces after visitors use them.
  • Library staff are to minimize direct contact with visitors, towards this end we will be installing Plexiglas screens at the front desk and setting up very simple to use self-check-in and self-check-out stations. Regular check-outs will still be available, but patrons will be encouraged to try the self-check-out.
  • The library is expanding the capabilities of our online catalog. In addition to browsing our catalog you will also be able to renew item checked-out, update your personal and contact information, and reserve materials online.
  • The library will be implementing a curbside pickup program. Materials can be reserved through our website, and will be prepared for pickup by library staff. When your order is ready, you will receive an email or text message, when you arrive give us a call and we will bring your items to your car. Alternatively, you can come into to library to pick up you items for rapid checkout.
  • During this time the library game room shall remain closed.
